LIBERTY LEGEND TERESA WEATHERSPOON TO SERVE AS COLOR ANALYST FOR ALL HOME GAMES ON MSG NETWORKS.
New York, NY (November 1, 2017) – The Westchester Knicks, the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knickerbockers, return to MSG Networks for the fourth consecutive season on Saturday, November 4 when they hit the road to take on the Windy City Bulls at 8:00 p.m. on MSG +. New York Liberty legend and Women’s Basketball Hall of Famer Teresa Weatherspoon will serve as color analyst for Westchester Knicks home games on MSG Networks, joining David Resnick who is entering his fourth season as play-by-play announcer. Weatherspoon is one of two G League female broadcasters for the 2017-18 season.
“I’ve been a member of the MSG family for twenty years and I’m so excited to be able to bring my knowledge from both a player’s and coach’s perspective to the MSG Network’s broadcast booth,” said Weatherspoon. “I’m in this to give my very best to do great things for MSG and our Westchester Knicks. I’m fired up and ready for this season to start!”
A New York basketball legend, Weatherspoon – who is currently Director of Player & Franchise Development for the New York Liberty – joins the telecasts with a wealth of basketball knowledge and accolades. During her eight year WNBA career, Weatherspoon was named Defensive Player of the Year two times (1997, 1998), four-time WNBA All-Second Team, and remains the franchise’s all-time leader in assists (1,306) and steals (453). Weatherspoon began her coaching career as the head coach of the Westchester Phantoms of the American Basketball Association in 2007 before being named head coach of her alma-mater Louisiana Tech from 2008-2014. From 2014-2017, Weatherspoon served as a consultant for the New York Liberty, Director of Player Development, Director of the Liberty Player Academy, and currently serves as Director of Franchise Development. The Westchester Knicks are under the direction of third-year head coach Mike Miller. Miller brings over 25 years of coaching experience to Westchester from both the collegiate and professional level.
