MSG Networks Names Ed Cohen Knicks Radio Announcer

New York, NY – September 7, 2017 – MSG Networks (NYSE: MSGN), the broadcast home of the New York Knicks, announced today that Ed Cohen will serve as the team’s new radio play-by-play announcer.

Cohen will team with radio analyst Brendan Brown to call all the action for the 2017-2018 Knicks season on ESPN Radio (ESPN 98.7).

This summer, Cohen was the play-by-play voice of the New York Liberty and New York Cosmos soccer on MSG Networks, and earlier this summer he handled play-by-play responsibilities for MSG Network’s coverage of Knicks Summer League. A native of Westchester, NY and graduate of Ithaca College’s Park School of Communications, Cohen has spent the past 12 years serving as a play-by-play voice and announcer for networks that include NBC Sports, CBS Sports Network, Big Ten Network and NHL Network. His versatility has allowed him to call everything from college basketball to weightlifting at the 2016 Rio Olympics on NBC. Cohen also served as the radio play-by-play announcer for Rutgers Scarlet Knights Women’s Basketball from 2008-2014. Cohen started his career as the radio voice of the Manhattan College men’s basketball team. He lives in Manhattan with his wife Emily.

“Ed is an exceptional young voice with incredible versatility, and we’re excited to welcome him as radio play-by-play announcer for the New York Knicks,” said Jeff Filippi, senior vice president of production & programming and executive producer. “Fans will really enjoy his play-by-play and his rapport with analyst Brendan Brown.”

“I’m incredibly excited and grateful to be joining the MSG and Knicks family,” said Ed Cohen. “As a lifelong New Yorker who grew up not far from where the Knicks practice, it’s a broadcasting dream come true to now have a seat in the radio booth, and I’m thrilled to do it alongside Brendan Brown. I can’t wait to get started and see what the coming years bring for the franchise.”
